Why eosinohpilic colitis in children is being diagnosed so rare and so poor?

The first manifestations of food allergy in early age children are often associated with a reaction to such products as cow milk, soy, peanuts, fish, etc. There are no reliable epidemiological data. Clinical manifestations of gastrointestinal food allergy are often masked by functional disorders like colic, regurgitation, flatulence, diarrhea, and colitis syndrome. According to modern concept, food allergy is considered as a pathological reaction to food components, which is based on immune mechanisms, including the production of specific immunoglobulins E (forming IgE-mediated) and cellular immune response (forming non-IgE-mediated allergic reactions).Allergic inflammation of various parts of the gastrointestinal tract is characterized by eosinophilic infiltration, for example, the walls of the esophagus (eosinophilic esophagitis), stomach (eosinophilic gastritis), small intestine (eosinophilic enteritis), large intestine (eosinophilic colitis). The article reviews the most common allergic lesions of the gastrointestinal tract in children, with an emphasis on eosinophilic bowel disease, the possibilities of diagnosis and treatment.
